Career Development Center Equips UC Students and Alumni for Success

The Career Development Center (CDC) reaffirmed its commitment to empowering students and alumni with programs designed to enhance professional growth and employment readiness during the academic year 2023–2024. Through strategic partnerships and collaborations, the center delivered a series of impactful activities tailored to the demands of the ever-evolving workforce.

One of the highlights was the Literacy Drive held on March 25–26 and April 1, 2024, attended by 1,125 graduating students from various UC colleges. This program offered practical training on the job-hunting process, including interview preparation techniques like the Point-Reason-Example-Point (PREP) method for answering WH-questions and the Situation-Action-Result (SAR) method for situational queries. The seminar also emphasized personality development, underscoring the importance of self-awareness and leveraging individual strengths to succeed professionally.

The Workforce Essentials activity, conducted on May 21 and July 16–17, 2024, featured collaborations with SSS Baguio and Pag-IBIG Fund Baguio. The event provided students and alumni with information about agency benefits and services, assisting participants in acquiring memberships and preparing the requirements commonly sought by employers.

Inclusivity took center stage with the CDC’s first-ever career orientation for the College of Law, in partnership with SGV & Co. Held earlier in the year, the session explored tax law as a rewarding yet underrepresented career path. Atty. Labaguis, a tax partner at SGV, inspired future lawyers to consider diverse opportunities within the legal profession.

The center also organized the UCian Job Fair 2024 on November 28, 2024, which brought together 17 companies and government agencies offering over 100 job opportunities. Graduating students also explored internship placements, revealing the program’s benefits in jump-starting their careers.

Furthering its mission, the CDC launched the UCian Career Fair Series, beginning with a two-day event for the College of Nursing on December 6–7, 2024. This initiative connected graduating nurses and alumni with medical institutions, industry experts, and practitioners, providing employment opportunities and fostering knowledge enhancement.

Through these initiatives, the Career Development Center continues to demonstrate its dedication to student and alumni success, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive in their chosen career paths.
