The University of the Cordilleras Alumni Association, Inc. (UAAI) successfully hosted the Grand Alumni Homecoming 2025 on Saturday, May 17, 2025, culminating months of meticulous planning and enthusiastic community engagement.
Announced early on July 26, 2024, through the official UAAI Facebook Page, the event generated excitement across generations of UCians. With regular updates, teaser videos, nomination guidelines for the Outstanding Alumni Awards, and invitations for Silver and Golden Jubilarians, the social media campaign ignited a buzz of nostalgia and anticipation.

Parade and Opening Ceremony
The grand celebration began with a colorful parade from Gate 1, bringing together proud alumni as they made their way back to their beloved alma mater. Upon arrival at the UC Gymnasium, attendees enjoyed a warm cup of coffee, exchanged greetings, registered, and received a thoughtfully curated Alumni Kit.
The program officially opened with spirited energy from hosts Ms. Angelita Padilla and Mr. Roland Malafu, welcoming alumni home. Ms. Padilla energized the crowd with the College Roll Call, where colleges performed their cheers. CTE (College of Teacher Education) emerged victorious, judged by UC President Dr. Flores and the Board of Trustees.
Processional and Opening Program
The Outstanding Alumni Awardees, UC Officials, and UAAI Officers entered through a dignified processional, followed by the Entry of Colors led by CCJE volunteers. This was succeeded by an Invocation, and heartfelt renditions of the Philippine National Anthem and UC Hymn—the latter gracefully performed in sign language by CTE students.
In her welcome remarks, Dr. Flores expressed deep appreciation for the alumni’s continued support and highlighted the University’s milestones, attributing these successes to the excellence of UCians past and present.

Recognitions and Awards
A stirring performance by the UC Percussion and Orchestra from the UC Center for Creative Productions set the tone for the awards segment. The ceremony honored Silver Jubilarians (graduates of 2000), although Golden Jubilarians were not in attendance.

Next came the awarding of the 2025 Outstanding Alumni, chosen through a rigorous selection process that recognized individuals who exemplify leadership, excellence, and service in their respective fields:

Among the honorees, Atty. Wilmark Javier Ramos delivered an inspiring address. Currently the VP for Administration at a state university, he shared meaningful reflections on perseverance, leadership, and faith, encouraging fellow alumni to “hold high the torch wherever you go.”
Raffles, Performances, and Fellowship
The program proceeded with exciting raffle draws courtesy of UAAI, followed by a blessing of the luncheon and a shared meal. Serenades by the CCP Featured Artists filled the venue with warmth and nostalgia.
At 1:24 PM, UAAI President Atty. Betty Lourdes Tabanda presented her President’s Report, detailing the association’s accomplishments and initiatives. She appealed for sustained support from the University and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering partnership, regardless of outcomes.
Outgoing officers were honored with certificates, while Atty. Tabanda received a plaque of recognition for her leadership. The Saeng Ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble later performed a vibrant intermission, celebrating the rich heritage of the Cordilleras.

Election of New Officers and Oath-Taking
The election of new UAAI officers followed, led by Edong Carta as chair of the committee. The newly elected officers are:
- President: Arnold Capuloy

- Secretary: Vanessa Aniceto
- Treasurer: Rhodora Ngolob
- Auditor: Leticia Clemente
- P.R.O.: Edong Carta
- Business Managers: Angelita Padilla and Roland Malafu
UC Chairman Ray Dean Salvosa offered a spontaneous yet heartfelt message, assuring alumni of the University’s commitment to listening, supporting, and collaborating with the association.
The newly elected officers then took their Oath of Office, pledging their dedication to advancing alumni engagement and service.

Tatak Jaguar League of Champions and Tatak UC Legion of Topnotchers
During the alumni homecoming, the Tatak Jaguar League of Champions and Tatak UC Legion of Topnotchers were proudly introduced and commended for their outstanding achievements. Invited by the Sports Development Office, the League of Champions featured athletes and achievers who brought pride to the university through national and international victories. While the Legion of Topnotchers recognized board and licensure exam topnotchers who exemplify academic excellence. Their recognition served as a powerful reminder of UC’s enduring legacy of excellence and inspiration for the entire Jaguar community.

Adding flair and fun, the Homecoming King and Queen candidates from various colleges took center stage:

Closing Celebration
Ms. Sonia Daoas, the incoming Vice President, delivered the closing remarks, expressing sincere gratitude to the alumni community.
A highlight of the event was the premiere of the SDE (Same Day Edit) video, skilfully created by CAS students, capturing the day’s most memorable moments and evoking a sense of joy and pride among attendees.
The celebration concluded with a lively community dance led by the Saeng Ya Kasay Cultural Ensemble, as alumni, students, and guests came together in a heart-warming finale of laughter, music, and shared memories.
